Going from The Band Most Likely To Succeed to The Best Band You've Never Heard is a curious fate. Especially for a group who've had their praises sung by everyone from the UK music press, an army of zine writers (what we called the blogosphere in the 90s) to no less than reclusive genius and literary icon Thomas Pynchon himself. They were there when "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" introduced Seth Green as a werewolf, playing Sunnydale's hippest (and apparently only) hotspot, The Bronze. They were there when street art and appropriation of corporate logos were on the cusp of entering the mainstream consciousness, and taken all the way to college textbooks and the Cooper Hewitt museum (where their posters and stickers were featured in an exhibition). They were there, on tour with such luminaries as Pavement, Throwing Muses, Mercury Rev, even playing the Reading Festival an hour before Courtney Love made the switch from punk rock superhero to onstage car-crash. They were there, and then they went away. And now they're here again. Along with their songs. Their wonderful, wonderful songs. A diverse set of thrilling, inspired, terrifying, funny, bittersweet, super rock, smooth pop, thundering, jangling, shimmering, and above all exciting songs. Their live shows were legendary affairs. And now you can say you were there, too.
